What goes in

Ingredients

  • 1/2 US cup Quaker Old Fashioned oats
  • 1 US cup drinking water
  • 2/3 cup diced apple (80 g)
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp maple syrup

What you’ll use

  • Microwave, roomy safe bowl; heat protection.
  • Measuring cups and spoons, knife/board; fridge.

Use a microwave only if your residence allows one.

How to make it

  1. 1

    Measure the base

Use the stated Quaker oats: measure 1/2 US cup oats and 1 US cup water into a roomy microwave- safe bowl.

  2. 2

    Cook by the label

Follow that product's microwave instructions for the appliance wattage. Watch for boil-over and use any stated standing time.

  3. 3

    Prepare the topping

Wash and core the apple. Dice 2/3 cup. Measure the cinnamon and maple syrup.

  4. 4

    Stir and finish

Remove the bowl with heat protection. Stir, then add the apple, cinnamon and syrup. Let it cool enough to eat comfortably.

Roommate tip: The apple goes in after the oats cook. A topping does not change the base method.
